VACATION PROPERTY CHECK PROGRAM

Do you worry about your home or business and belongings when you are out of town? If the answer is "Yes," our next question is "Would you like the Village of Franklinville Police Department to help put your mind at ease?"

The Village of Franklinville Vacation Property Check Program is an initiative to help give you peace of mind while you are away for an extended period of time for vacation, business, or other reasons.

HOW IT WORKS--

If you are planning on being away for 3 or more consecutive days, fill out a property check request form.  There is NO COST for this service.

In your absence, the Franklinville PD will provide periodic security checks of your property. They will immediately investigate any suspicious activity.

Please make sure the form is filled out completely. It needs to be completed a minimum five days before leaving. Property checks are normally provided on the weekdays, during normal business hours. Checks may also be done on the weekends or after business hours when staffing is available. Officers will make a visual check of your house, as well as make sure there is no obvious damage to any property. They will not enter backyards or any fenced areas.

Will I be notified if an incident occurs on my property?

If an emergency occurs, the resident will be notified with the phone number provided on the property check request form.

Vacation Safety Considerations
  • Stop newspaper delivery or have someone pick up the paper
  • Have the Post Office hold your mail or have someone pick it up
  • Arrange deliveries to not leave packages by the front door
  • Arrange for trash/waste bin not to be left on street
  • Leave a light on or set a timer of lights
  • Notify trusted neighbor, family member, security service (alarm company)
  • This program should not be used in place of home security methods

Click here to download and print a paper copy of this form. Please hand in the form to the police department.
