Snow/Winter Information

A snow event is defined as a period when cumulative snowfall and inclement weather is expected and will result in the need to plow the roads multiple times in a 24-hour period. When a "snow event" is declared, there is to be no parking on any street within the village at any time during the snow event.

When possible, we will communicate a "snow event" via our text message notification system, social media, & website banner. Any questions can also be answered by calling the village clerk's office at 716-676-3010.

Below are laws that are in effect ANY TIME, not just during a snow event.
  1. No parking on streets within this village from 12:00 am and 7:00 am from November 1 to April 1. (section 71.03) OR during a storm event (Section 71.15)
  2. No double parking (section 71.04)
  3. No parking on crosswalks or sidewalks, or across from a private driveway on the opposite side of the street (section 71.05)
  4. Unlawful deposit of snow or ice. Do not push snow or ice in, on, or across any street or sidewalk within the village. Do not plow, shovel, sweep or pile snow, ice or other materials or permit or cause any snow, ice or other materials (e.g., grass, leaves, brush, etc.) to be deposited in or on any sidewalk, street, right-of-way or public highway in the village so as to interfere with the safety and convenience of public travel, the snow removal operations of the Department of Public Works, or the drainage system serving the village (93.062).
  5. SNOW & ICE REMOVAL (93.060) Within 24 hours after snow & ice have fallen to the ground, it is the property owner's responsibility to keep the sidewalks in front of, adjoining or in any way contiguous to any such house, building or lot free from obstruction.  At all times keep the sidewalks in good and safe repair, clean, & free from ice, snow, dirt, filth and weeds or other obstructions and encumbrances.  There are several local businesses that regularly stock salt. When travelling the sidewalks, please be mindful of the conditions and practice safe walking habits. See this video for safe walking tips.
